Can social media specialists, specialize?
Question? Can specialists working in web communications only concentrate on just one or two areas, like blogging, video or search engine optimisation (SEO) without considering the full range of social media tools? I would say no, but I’m meeting more and more people who do.
What about the benefit of building a vibrant network of like-minded people with no geographical limits, or that great sense of satisfaction when your share a useful piece of information which gets retweeted?
Of course we need to think through what we are trying to achieve and select the appropriate tools to achieve it, but I struggle to see the benefit of specialising in just a few and ignoring what else is on offer…
